Finals Day/Presentation Evening - Date Chenged!!8-ballview topic in forums
Hi all,

Due to clashes with the annual event in Blackpool - no not the Conservative Party Conference - Pat's already been to that biggrin.gif

We have had to move Finals Day & Presentation Evening back a week from Sat. 15th November to Sat. 22nd November 2008

Finals Day will be held at Fore St. Snooker Club on Sat. 22nd November at 10:00am

Presentation Evening will be held at The Old Edmontonians Football Club at 7:00pm

sorry for any inconvenience but this has been necessary due to the high number of players attending the Blackpool event

Beehive No Shows8-ballview topic in forums
As I am unable to contact the Beehive I have told the team from the Railway to consider them a no show
as they have not actually turned up for a match since 17th June 2008!

If they do show tonight at the Railway (with a team - not just 1 or 2 people) there will have to be a re-match
scheduled for a later date.

If any members of the team read this and think they will be showing, then get your captain to contact me or
Pat Moyles by 4:00pm at the latest, so that we can notify the Railway and hopefully re setup the match for tonight.
Website Migration8-ballview topic in forums
Some of you may have noticed a few problems with the website over the last 2 days - Page Not Found Errors, pages not displaying correctly etc...

This is because I am currently in the process of moving the entire website from our old shared hosting server (where we shared a machine with dozens or even hundreds of other websites) to a new dedicated server which is exclusively for us - so there should be a speed improvement.

The website address has also changed, to http://britannia-pool.net. This is now the default website address, but http://britannia-pool.org & http://britannia-pool.org.uk should also work just fine. Although you may find
that they are very slightly slower than using the .net address - this is because they use redirection to point to the .net address.

As of today (Monday 8th September) the main website & forums should be working fine, but the Gallery & all of the old archive websites (2004 - 2007) are NOT working, I'll fix these when I get some time (probably next weekend)

If you come across any other problems, please let me know

regards,

Gary

Hi all,

I have to take the Forums (Message Board) Offline for a while

Hopefully it should only be for a few hours

Just to remind people - the League Meeting is at 11:00am tomorrow - Sunday 7th September
at The Old Edmontonians Football Club
Division 2 League Cup - please read!8-ballview topic in forums
The Division 2 League Cup table is now available, please click on the

Div 2 League Cup link from the main menu or click here

For future reference, League Cup matches follow the same format as regular League Matches (ie: 12 single frames with a deciding 13th frame if 6-6 after 12)

Also please note that the Home Team should supply food as with regular League Matches as these matches last as long as regular League Matches

Food is not required to be provided for Knock Out Cup, Singles & Doubles matches due to the shorter match format.

Singles Draw - Tuesday 6th May 20088-ballview topic in forums
Although the singles draw has been on the Forums for well over a week, some of you have still not seen it.

You should Always check the Forums as they oftem contain more up to date info. than the main site.

To see the singles draw, select Forums from the Horizontal Menu, or Message Board from the Main (Vertical) Menu

Once in the Forums, select The Pool Hall, and once the page has loaded, click on the Singles topic.

You will then be able to download the pdf file containing the 2nd round draw.

Please get into the habit of checking the forums on a regular basis.

For your convenience though, I have included a link to the document from the Singles Draw page on the main site, just click on the
Singles option from the Main (Vertical) Menu.

I have not put the draw as a table on the Singles page as normal because I was not provided with the draw in the correct format as I had requested.
White Horse - Division 2 - dropped out!8-ballview topic in forums
I am sorry to say that the White Horse (Div 2) have dropped out of the league with imediate effect.

Tonight's match against the Whitehouse 'A' has been cancelled, as have al future matches.

Until further notice, if you are due to play them either home or away - you need not turn up.

If anybody knows the result of their KO Cup match against the S&W last week, please let me know

thanks
K.O. Cup - Match Format. Important!8-ballview topic in forums
There was an error on The K.O. Cup First Round Draw page when I put it up

I incorrectly said that the match format would be 12 singles, as in a normal league match.

I had confused this with the upcoming 2nd division league cup, which will use a 12 singles frames format.

The K.O. Cup however, will use a 6 Singles, 3 Scotch Doubles format.

The first team to 6 frames will be the winner. If a match is 5-4 after 9 frames, you should play a maximum
of 2 extra singles frames until one team reaches 6 wins.

The K.O. Cup page has now been updated correctly.

Apologies for the meetingPat Moylesview topic in forums
My sincerest apologies for missing the meeting last week. I had in mind that I had cancelled the county game and forgot about the meeting.
Any how. The cup draw. To prevent any shouts of FIX! Yes I can hear them. I have looked on the web site and kept the draw as it is written.
First Division. Barnet v PA's.
Hyde v 4 Street.

Second Division. Old Ed's B V Brimsdown
Bush Hill Park v Whitehouse.

I am sorry if you feel this is unfair but I cannot see how I could do it any other way.

An 85 year old man goes to the doctor to get a sperm count

The Doctor gives him a jar and asks him to come back the next day with a sample of his semen

The following day the man returns with the still empty jar.

“What happened?” asked the Doctor

“Well” said the man “first I tried with my left hand, without success. Then I tried with my right hand, still no luck”

“So, I asked my wife for help. She tried first with her right hand, then her left and then with both hands. Next she tried using her mouth,
first with her teeth in and then with her teeth out – still nothing”

“Finally we asked our next door neighbour Arleen for some help – she even tried sticking it under her armpit and squeezing it between her knees,
all to no avail”

“You asked you next-door neighbour?!” Said the shocked Doctor

“Oh yes” said the man, “but it was no good, none of us could open the jar!”

Our match due to people not being able to read a fixture sheet given to them, it pinned up on the notice board in Fore Street snooker club, a web site linked to this site and everyone being told at the last county match the date for the next one, has been canceled for this Sunday.
Lucky for us Cambridge are a nice bunch of lads and have agreed. The new date will be published here and text to you all.

Cambridge v MiddlesexPat Moylesview topic in forums
Let's keep our great season going at county level this Sunday. We have our annual trip to Cambridge on Sunday (start time 1pm). No mini bus this time (as I never recover the cost) there is also a meeting at the Old Eds on Sunday. It will be brief;as I need to get to Cambridge. I will be driving my own car up there and can offer three people a lift.
If anyone else can oblige in offering lifts please make it known.

COME ON THE MIDDLESEX!!!
